TRYOUTS - CAMPER PACKING LIST
This is the very minimum that the girls should bring. This is winter camping and the weather is very unpredictable. All personal gear must be clearly marked with the girl’s name. No rolling suitcases (use duffel bag, please), no chairs, no purses, no extra food, no candy, no soda, no radios, no cell phones, no electronics, no valuable jewelry. There are no showers.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Personal gear should be packed in large 3 mil plastic trash bags inside a duffel bag. (This is in case it rains - your stuff will stay dry).
Everything should be labeled with your name (yes, everything!) MEDICATION YOU BRING TO TRYOUTS must be in a pharmacy labeled container with instructions. Sorry, a Ziploc bag with a bunch of pills is not okay! Please note if medicine is optional or mandatory. It is the camper’s responsibility to come to the First Aider when time for their medication. Each girl is responsible for 1-2 boxes of firewood per girl. (One large box like a photocopy paper box - or two small boxes, like Girl Scout cookie boxes). We need wood in manageable pieces to cook over. Construction wood 2 feet long or less is best. The girls cannot manage heavy logs. No wood with paint or nails or chemically treated. Do not bring the logs that you can buy at grocery stores. You can get FREE WOOD by asking at construction sites, at lumber yards, even at Lowe's or at Home Depot! The BEST wood is 2x4's and DRY ... the girls will be cooking ALL of their meals over a wood fire - so it needs to "catch" so they're not hungry. (And wet wood will not catch!) |
